New Website means no more Blog

I hope you all have had a chance to check out the new website (www.crozettrailscrew.org) and "friend" us on Facebook (Crozet Trails Crew).

I will no longer be updating this blog since all updates, calendar events, and other information will be available on the website. Photos of workdays can be uploaded to the Facebook page, and Crew members can send messages to one another on there as well.

In a few weeks, this blog will go away and will, hopefully, be replaced with a link to the new website.
As for now, this will be the last update on here.

See you all on the trails and at www.crozettrailscrew.org !!!

:) Jessica

UPDATE

We had a great meeting this past Tuesday and I will send out the minutes later today or early next week (our secretary was not able to attend the meeting so I'm a little slow-- we missed you, Chris!!).

A few things:

We will begin work on the lower section of the Grayrock ponds access trail on May 14th (Saturday). It is really important to have lots of Grayrock residents help with this project (as well as CTC). Please come out, even for only an hour, and bring your family. This project will take several workdays to complete.

We are aiming to send the T-shirts to print by the first week of May. We have some great sponsors for the shirts (all local to Crozet) and if you would like your business to be a sponsor as well, please let me know ASAP. They are really good-looking shirts (thank you Leslie Burns Design!).

We now have a REAL website and a Facebook page AND a new contact email (thank you Angela Li!!!). Please check them all out!

I will continue to post updates to this blog until I fully get a handle on updating the website (a week or so, maybe?). At that point, this blog will no longer be used. When you go to this web address, it will tell you the new address for the website. I will send out more information about that later.

Henley Hornets Trail "facelift"

A group of us worked on the Henley Hornets trail this past Saturday. We installed 2 signs, repaired some eroded tread, and rebuilt a few sections of "steps". It's a great walk and we look forward to adding on to this trail in the future. **note- Check out how happy we all look!

Saturday

If you want to check out the Henley Hornets trail and help us clean it up and put up a few signs, meet tomorrow (Saturday) at 9am at the Beaver Creek reservoir parking lot.
Yes, even if it is cold!
We'll warm you up with good old-fashioned trail work.
See you there!

update

There a few things I'd like to update you all on:
1. We will have a CTC workday next Saturday, March 26th, at Beaver Creek reservoir (Henley Hornets Trail). We will be checking the trail for any maintenance issues, putting up a few signs, clearing, and investigating the stream crossings. Please meet at the parking lot at 9am. Bring tools if you'd like, and bring friends and family. This will be a great workday for kids as well.

2. The Crozet Community Advisory Council (CCAC) met last night and we have decided that the April CCAC meeting (Thursday, April 21st) will be dedicated to the topic of walking and biking to the local schools. This will be a great meeting to attend if you have any interest in the topic. I will send out more information to the CTC in mid-April. Mark your calendars.

3. We would like to plan a day to begin the lower portion of the Grayrock Ponds access trail. It is very important that we get buy-in and assistance from the Grayrock community. If you live in Grayrock and are interested in helping (or know someone who would like to help), please let me know. We'd like to plan this event for a weekend in mid-May. It will take several workdays to complete, likely spread out over a few months.

Do Not be Fooled!

I realize it has been several weeks since the last post, but that doesn't mean we haven't been busy with the trails! We have cleared a beautiful section of trail from West Hall to Lickinghole Creek, discussed future park plans for the area adjacent to Lickinghole creek, had a great monthly meeting, and explored options for completing the path/steps at the Grayrock Ponds Trail.

Please see the most recent Meeting Minutes by clicking on the tab above. Some exciting news!!

Next workday- Saturday, March 26. Details to follow.

Hello February!

Time to think about ordering seeds for your garden, getting in a final ski day, and keeping weekends open for outdoor activities---Like trail work!

Thanks to those of you who went to check out Byrom Park on Saturday- I hear it was fairly grueling, but Dan assured me that everyone who went up the mountain came back down , so that's good news.

On Sunday, a few of us "surveyed" a portion of the proposed trail from Lickinghole Basin to Cory Farms. I'd like to get back out there this Sunday to talk about trail alignment and overall vision. Weather dependant. Email me (or comment on here) if you are interested in participating.

Our next meeting is coming up! February 10th at Trailside Coffee.
